Introduction
Section titled “Introduction”Blinky is designed with your privacy as a top priority. This Privacy Policy explains how Blinky handles your data when you use the app.
The simple version: Blinky does not collect, store, or transmit any of your personal data. Everything stays on your device.
Data Collection

Section titled “What Blinky Does NOT Collect”Blinky does not collect, store, or transmit:
- Personal information (name, email, phone number, etc.)
- User accounts or login credentials
- Location data
- Device identifiers
- Usage analytics or telemetry
- Camera images or video recordings
- Any data to external servers or cloud services
How Blinky Uses Your Camera
Section titled “How Blinky Uses Your Camera”Blinky uses your device’s front-facing camera exclusively for real-time blink detection through Apple’s ARKit framework. Here’s what happens:
- Processing Location: All face detection and blink tracking happens locally on your device using ARKit
- No Recording: Blinky does not record, save, or transmit camera images or video
- No Storage: Camera data is processed in real-time and immediately discarded
- No Access: No person or external service has access to your camera feed
The camera is only active when you’re in an active tracking session, and you can end the session at any time.
Session Data
Section titled “Session Data”When you use Blinky’s session tracking feature, the following data is temporarily stored only on your device:
- Session start and end times
- Blink rate measurements during the session
- Session duration
- Calibration baseline (your normal blink rate)
This data is:
- Stored locally on your device only
- Never transmitted to any server
- Used only to display your session summary
- Under your complete control
Data Storage
Section titled “Data Storage”All Blinky data is stored locally on your device using iOS standard storage mechanisms. No data is:
- Uploaded to cloud services
- Shared with third parties
- Accessible by the developer
- Synchronized across devices
- Backed up to external servers
If you delete the Blinky app from your device, all associated data is permanently deleted.
Third-Party Services
Section titled “Third-Party Services”Blinky does not integrate with or use any third-party services, including:
- Analytics platforms
- Advertising networks
- Cloud storage providers
- Social media platforms
- Data brokers
Permissions
Section titled “Permissions”Blinky requests the following permissions on iOS:
Camera Access
Section titled “Camera Access”- Purpose: To detect your blinks using ARKit face tracking
- Processing: All processing happens on-device in real-time
- Storage: No images or video are saved
- Required: Yes, camera access is essential for the app to function
You can revoke camera permission at any time through iOS Settings, though this will prevent Blinky from functioning.
Children’s Privacy
Section titled “Children’s Privacy”Blinky does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. The app is suitable for all ages as it does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data.
Data Security
Section titled “Data Security”Since all Blinky data stays on your device, it is protected by your device’s security features:
- iOS device encryption
- Device passcode/biometric authentication
- iOS sandbox security
- No network transmission vulnerabilities
The developer has no access to any data from your use of Blinky.
Your Rights and Control
Section titled “Your Rights and Control”You have complete control over your data:
- Access: All session data is visible within the app
- Deletion: Delete the app to remove all data
- Portability: Not applicable (no data leaves your device)
- Opt-out: Not applicable (no data collection to opt out from)
Changes to This Privacy Policy
Section titled “Changes to This Privacy Policy”If this Privacy Policy is updated, changes will be:
- Reflected in the app and on this website
- Noted with an updated “Last Updated” date
- Communicated through App Store update notes for significant changes
Continued use of Blinky after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
Open Source and Transparency
Section titled “Open Source and Transparency”Blinky was created as a personal project to solve eye strain during long screen sessions. The app is designed with transparency and privacy in mind:
- No business model based on data collection
- No advertising or tracking
- No user accounts or registration
- No network connectivity required
Contact Information
Section titled “Contact Information”If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how Blinky handles data, you can:
- Review the app’s functionality to verify privacy claims
- Check iOS Settings > Privacy > Camera to see which apps have camera access
- Delete the app at any time to remove all local data
This privacy policy reflects the current functionality of Blinky. The app is designed to be private by default, with zero data collection or transmission.
Compliance
Section titled “Compliance”Blinky’s privacy-first design means it complies with major privacy regulations by default:
- GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation): No personal data collection
- CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act): No data sale or sharing
- COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act): No data collection from children
Since Blinky doesn’t collect personal data, there is no data to be subject to these regulations.
